(New York, 29 11 2009) - Thousands of Tamils in several world capitals this weekend attended Maveerar Day events, an annual remembrance for the fallen Tamil Eelam heroes.
The Maveerar day commemorations began with a minute of silence for all those who lost their lives in the national struggle for self determination. It was followed by the lighting of lamps in memory of the fallen heroes and all those who lost their lives in the decade’s long military struggle. The events were marked with songs in praise of the fallen heroes and dramas relating the sufferings of the people during the Mullivaikal conflict.
