US mounts political pressure on Lanka


(Indian Express, 06 12 2009) - COLOMBO: Close on the heels of India’s appeal to Sri Lanka to move towards ethnic reconciliation and a meaningful political solution to the 30-year conflict, the US is sending Robert Blake, Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, to Colombo next week to encourage post-war reconciliation.     It is good to support Dr.Wickramabuhu for the simple reason that he represents the “non-capitalists” and the “oppressed”.

    To get the support from the “people” he should get on the platform of “good governance”.

    By “good governance” it is meant “a government that is against injustice, discrimination corruption and oppression”.

    All the problems including the ethnic and terrorist problems came into being because of the above-mentioned “four evils”.

    The poor and down-trodden who are the “majority” in this country as in any other country will surely support him if they = the poor and down trodden - are made aware of these evils that caused them all the misery and the urgent need to have them eradicated FOR PEACE AND HARMONY AND CONSEQUENTLY A PROSPEROUS SRI LANKA where everyone will lead a happy and pleasant life.
